The race for supremacy in social networking is only part of the story. As in any race, we typically expect a winner to reach an end. However, this competition is absent of finish line and as a result, a true overall winner is beside the point. Many networks will enjoy time in the spotlight until their luster ages and a new framework for engagement lures our friends of friends, our friends, and finally our attention and participation. As consumers, we go where we are not only wanted, but also where we can make an impact.

The emergence of a new site encouraging people to commit Web 2.0 suicide has highlighted an apparent backlash against the prevalence of social media platforms.

The announcement of the event coincides with a piece of research which is apparently one of the largest global youth studies ever undertaken which identified the top ten trends of 20-somethings.

Like it or not, Demand has created a thriving business—explained in depth by Daniel Roth's article in Wired last fall—based in large part on the realization that it’s possible to get talented people to produce quality content for astonishingly low pay (some people may gripe about the quality, but most of it is surprisingly good, particularly when compared to the useless dreck often found on sites like About.com).
